When applying for Italian Citizenship jure sanguinis, all US birth, marriage, death, certificates must be in “CERTIFIED COPY”, also known as “LONG FORM” or “EXTENDED FORM” or “BOOK COPY”. These certificates are obtained from the Office of Vital Statistics of the State or County in which the event took place. Church Records are generally not accepted.
If you or your ascendants/ancestors are divorced, you will also need a certified copy of the marriage license and certificate, Final Judgment of Divorce and Certificate of “Non Appeal”, these are generally issued by the County Court Clerk where the divorce took place.
Cost of Service: $150 per certificate/record
Since October 15, 1981 the U.S. has been part of the 1965 Hague Convention that provides for a certification of the Public Documents, including birth, marriage, divorce and death records, to be used in third countries, such as Italy, that are also part of the Convention. The main function of the Apostille is to certify the authenticity of the signature of the public official on the document. The Apostille is generally issued by the office of the Secretary of State in which the document was issued.
In general all US Civil Records used for Italian Dual Citizenship must be authenticated with the Apostille.
Cost of service: $90 per apostille

In order to apply for Italian Citizenship by descent, you need to obtain a certified copy of his/her Italian Birth Certificate and the Marriage Certificate if married in Italy, in long/extended format. Please note that the birth certificate of his/her spouse is required by many of the Italian Consulates in the US. We obtain Vital Records through our Italian office. We provide courier services for records needed from Rome.
We can assist you in preparing the citizenship and passport application for your US born children. This service includes: procurement of all necessary records and forms, submission of required documentation to the consulate, registration with AIRE and passport request.
Cost: $250 per child
A male or female (foreign national) spouse of an Italian citizen can apply for Italian citizenship after being married for two years if residing in Italy, or after three years from the date of marriage if he/she resides abroad. We can assist you throughout the whole process. This service includes: procurement of all necessary records and forms, submission of required documentation online,, registration with AIRE and passport request.
Cost: $1,500 and up
